CAIA Level II: Advanced Core Topics in Alternative Investments
Sponsored by the CAIA Association®, the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) program consists of a two-tier exam process (Level I and Level II) through which to earn the CAIA charter.
The Level I exam challenges the understanding of the alternative investment market's tools and terms, and tests the knowledge of various trading strategies and performance measurements. The Level II exam assesses how to apply the knowledge and analytics learned in Level I within an asset allocation framework.
Until 2009 “Beyond the J-Curve” was the required reading for the CAIA Level II exam. Since then “CAIA Level II: Advanced Core Topics in Alternative Investments” contains the concepts from “Beyond the J-Curve” and “J-Curve Exposure” that are relevant for potential Level II candidates as they prepare for the exam. Additionally the book covers other alternative investments—hedge funds commodities and managed futures, and credit derivatives—notably in the context of risk management and asset allocation.
